NEET-UG 2017 Supreme Court Removes 25yrs Upper Age Limit, filling of forms extended till 5th April

Hon’ble Supreme Court after hearing the two writ petitions filled by students against the CBSE notice which had barred students above 25yrs of age to appear in NEET-UG 2017, has directed MCI to remove upper age limit and allow students to fill forms for the NEET 2017 examination to be held on 7th May. CBSE had argued that since the date of filling of forms are already over it would be difficult to open registration again, however, after discussion agreed to open online form filling from 1st April till 5th April. However, the apex court has further the hearing to July.

The Oversight Committee on the Medical Council of India, had also recommended removal of age cap sighting “shortage of doctors in the country” as the reason. Dr Saiyam Bhardwaj, joint secretary, CBSE assured SupremeCourt that online portal will be open by today evening March 31. With matters related to exam centre, the Supreme Court said that if any high court has already passed any order contrary to this order, this order will overrule.

The judge recorded the submissions of all parties including MCI and petitioners and allowed the NEET aspirant to sit for the exam this year,” said advocate Vaibhav Srivastava.
